Mythical Thrace


The main goal of the Programme is to highlight the cultural richness of the region of Thrace and to familiarize students with its mythological background.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will familiarize themselves with:

  • the use of myths in innovative teaching methods concerning the ancient world
  • cuting edge subjects, such as myths and gender, myths in the digital era and myths in European education

the impact of myths in the shaping of the greco-roman civilization, thus stimulating a sense of common European consciousness.

3. Studying the wine myths: Dionysos, Maron, Kikones 

4. Myths and religion: The Kaviria Mysteries

5. The interdisciplinary use of myths in European secondary education

6. Workshop on social and emotional education: Together with a myth!

7. Lecture on the reception of Orpheus in the Opera from Poliziano to Offenbach

Cultural events:

1. Workshop at the Ethnological Museum of Thrace

2. Visit to the Silk Museum of Soufli

3. Cinema: Orphée by Jean Cocteau (1950)

4. Visit to the archaeological site and the Archaeological Museum of Samothrace
